Charles and Lily Graham were leading members of the Prince George community. Mr. Graham was the Prince George alderman between 1959-64, president of the Industrial Development Commission and twice a Liberal candidate for the Cariboo Federal Riding. Their home was also the centre of Jewish community life in Prince George.

John Mahrer opened Mahrer's Brewery in 1879, and it quickly became one of the principal breweries in the province. In 1891 he amalgamated with the Union Brewing Co., where he continued as manager and master brewer.
