He is shown here being greeted at the Vancovuer Airport by Sam Shine, President of the Home for the Aged of BC and Mrs. E. Allman, director of the Jewish Family Welfare Bureau. Sam had been travelling from his home in Fort St. James, where he had been a trapper for 88 years, to Vancouver to take up residence in the Vancouver Home for the Aged.

He was the owner of the "first and only steam motor car in Lynn Valley", cites Cyril E. Leonoff in his book Pioneers, Pedlars and Prayer Shawls (1978). The building in the background was erected by Brier at the corner of Mountain Highway and Lynn Valley Road.
